Firestone tyres have one of the longest histories in the tyre industry, the man responsible for Firestone was Harvey Samuel Firestone born in Columbiana, Ohio in 1868. Its believed he founded the Firestone tyre company in America in 1896, Harvey Firestone marketing plan was to enter the US agricultural tyre market, his ploy was a success and today Firestone is still the largest player in this market.

Firestone saw the huge potential for marketing tyres for cars and the Firestone company opened up new areas of research and development in the mass production of tyres. In 1906 Firestone obtained a substantial order from Henry Ford and this became the foundation of a business and personal relationship. Firestone was the first constructer who ever signed an exclusive contract with Ford for the first mass-produced cars in America.

In 1979 Firestone introduced the temporary-spare tyre, which allowed more boot space and reduces fuel consumption by reducing the tyre weight.

In 1988 Firestone had already won a strong reputation and merged with Bridgestone tyres and is their second brand. In their research and development facility in Italy around 300 engineers work with the latest technology and materials to develop and test ground-breaking new Firestone designs.

After the buying over, Firestone tyres kept on making themselves noticed by distinguishing themselves from the other brands by their structure. Invented to fit all kind of vehicle, a Firestone tyre is particularly designed to stick well to the road. And on wet roads Firestone tyres have a unique performance, due to their innovative design.
