WHY SHOULD I CHECK MY PRESSURES?
The correct pressure of your tyres is vital in both safety and the long life of your tyres. It will also save on fuel and reduce the CO2 released in to the environment. The wrong pressures can have
major effects on the vehicles operation:
- Degrading the handling of the vehicle
- An increased risk of tyre damage.
- Reduced aquaplaning performance.
- Reduced tyre life. (A tyre under inflated by 20% will wear out around 26% quicker than a normally inflated tyre)
HOW SHOULD I CHECK MY TYRE PRESSURES?
- We recommend that you check your pressures each month.
- It is also recommended to check them before a long journey.
- Pressures should always be checked when the tyres are cold.
- Tyre pressures should be set to the manufacturers recommendation. (Usually in vehicle handbook, behind the fuel cap cover or on the door pillar)
- You should also check the pressure of the spare tyre as you never know when you might need it.
- You may need to adjust the tyre pressures if you are carrying a heavy load, towing a trailer or caravan or driving at high speed.
