Wheel Alignment

WHEEL ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS?

Vehicle suspension misalignment can result in rapid, irregular tyre wear, which is bad news for your pocket and can affect the handling and safety of your vehicle.

There are many different types of alignment which includes, Toe, Camber, Caster, KPI/SAI, Thrust Angle and Setback. Some drivers like to check their alignment regularly but if you dont there are some things you need to look out for. Excessive tyre wear, the steering wheel not straight when driving in a straight line or the vehicle pulling to one side, are all common sign of alignment problems. If you have any of these if might be worth getting it checked out.

If your suspension is misaligned by 4mm (just 2mm per wheel), then for every mile you travel your vehicle could be forced sideways by 8.4 metres (28 feet) on a car with 15inch wheels. With 13 or 14inch wheels, the same amount of misalignment can result in even more tyre scrub.

If you choose to have your alignment checked just ask the garage what they are checking, as many garages do not have the equipment to check all angles, this can result in alignment problems not being found.
